Hi, I'm Micki.
I’m a professional writer, editor, and designer with a strong foundation in communications strategy, currently working as a Proposal Coordinator. I recently graduated with honors recognition from George Mason University in Fairfax, VA, with a Bachelor of Individualized Study (BIS), concentrating in Professional Writing and Communications. I previously earned a Certificate in Web Design & Development from Parkland College in Champaign, IL.
My passion lies in making complex ideas clear, engaging, and visually impactful. I specialize in shaping persuasive content and cohesive visual assets across platforms. My academic and professional experience includes:
- Managing the proposal lifecycle—from pipeline tracking and RFP deconstruction to compliance-driven Shipley-style reviews and final submissions
- Writing sharp, audience-aware web copy and building social media engagement across Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter/X
- Developing clean, accessible, and responsive websites using semantic HTML and CSS
- Crafting AP-style news stories, press releases, and captions under deadline
- Producing academic writing such as literature reviews, research papers, and formal proposals in MLA and APA formats
- Grant writing and designing for nonprofits, including branding, fundraising materials, and outreach campaigns
- Creating polished infographics, brochures, ads, and publication layouts using Adobe Creative Suite
When I’m not wrangling a proposal deadline or polishing a draft, you’ll probably find me at a concert, belting it out at karaoke, or deep in the world of community theatre—onstage in a Shakespeare production or backstage designing award-winning costumes.
Let’s connect on LinkedIn or visit my portfolio page to see more of my work. I’m always open to new collaborations or a good conversation about writing, design, or anything in between.
